OVERVIEW
The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays have an overall record of 43-5, which breaks the school record for wins (42), which was set by the 2008 team that finished as the national runner-up.

NCAA HISTORY
The Blue Jays are 38-35 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with a 6-4 record in the World Series. Hopkins is 22-16 all-time in games in which it could be eliminated, and are 11-of-13 in such games in the last three years, including the 8-3 win over Kean in this year's regional championship game.

MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL WRAP-UP
The Blue Jays won the first three games of the Mid-Atlantic Tournament to advance to the championship round. Hopkins defeated Moravian by a score of 13-4, Keystone by a score of 9-4, and Rowan, 9-4.
Kean came out of the loser's bracket to face Hopkins in the Championship round. Kean won the first game, 9-6 to force the "if necessary" game on Sunday. Hopkins won the winner-take-all game by a score of 8-3.

THE WORLD SERIES COMPETITION
The Blue Jays will face #6 Heidelberg in its first game of the 2010 World Series. The Student Princes are 40-6 this season and defeated Marietta, 6-2, in the Mideast Regional Championship game to earn a spot at the DIII World Series. The Blue Jays have won the only two meetings between the two schools, with the last being a 10-2 win in 2005.

ABCA MID-ATLANTIC ALL-REGION
Eight Blue Jays were named to the 2010 ABCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams while Brian Youchak was named the Player of the Year and Sam Eagleson was the Pitcher of the Year. John Swarr was named the 2010 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove First Team catcher.
Dave Kahn and Jesse Sikorski joined Youchak and Eagleson on the first team.
Swarr, Chris Huisman and Alex Eliopoulos were named to the second team, while Greg Harbeck earned third team accolades.

IT'S ALL ACADEMIC I
John Swarr was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team. Swarr was an all-district selection in 2009 and 2010.

IT'S ALL ACADEMIC II
Five Blue Jays were named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team. John Swarr earned first team honors for the second consecutive year while Matthew Bernardi was a first time honoree on the first team. Both players will be eligible for the Academic All-America Team.
Andrew Pevsner, Lee Bolyard and Sam Wernick all earned Second Team Academic All-District honors. Hopkins has had 22 Academic All-District selections since 2000.

IT'S ALL ACADEMIC III
The Hopkins baseball team ranks fifth all-time in Academic All-American selections for all divisions and second for Division III schools. Below is the list of the top-ten for all divisions in baseball.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES
The Blue Jays have reached the regional championship game in each of their last five trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Jays reached the Mid-Atlantic Championship in 2004, 2007 and 2010 and the South Championship in 2008 and 2009, advancing to the World Series in 2008 and 2010. Hopkins finished as national runners-up in 2008.

ELIOPOULOS
Alex Eliopoulos was named the 2010 Most Outstanding Player of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournamet. He earned two wins, including the clinching game against Kean, while posting a 2.77 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.
James Teta, Dave Kahn and Greg Harbeck were also named to the All-Tournament team. Teta was 10-for-19 (.526) with nine runs scored in the five games. Kahn was 10-for-22 (.455) with two doubles. Harbeck pitched a complete game against Rowan allowing just one earned run on five hits.

HOME RUNS AND STRIKEOUTS
Hopkins has four players with more home runs than strikeouts. These players are Brian Youchak, Dave Kahn, John Swarr, and Chris Huisman.
Only two other players competing in the College World Series can put this on their resume. These players are Zach Boskovich from Linfield and Kevin Brashears from Shenandoah.

SHATTERING SCHOOL RECORDS
The Blue Jays are breaking Hopkins' school records left and right this year. Brian Youchak became JHU's career hits leader with 255, surpassing JHU Hall of Famer John Christ, who had 232 in his career. He is also tops on the career runs scored list with 194 career runs, passing Karl Sineath, who had 171. Youchak is tied with Todd Emr at 94 hits in a single season.
The single-season runs scored record has been broken by three different players this season. Youchak set the record with 67 runs scored in 2008. This season Youchak has 74 runs, Dave Kahn has 72, and Chris Huisman has 69.
Both Kahn and Jesse Sikorski have 70 RBI this season, which is three away from tying the single-season record of 73, held by Christ.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
The Blue Jays won their fourth-consecutive Centennial Conference championship in 2010 by sweeping through the conference tournament. The Blue Jays defeated Washington by a score of 8-2 in the opening round, Haverford by a score of 21-5 in the winner's bracket, and then defeated Haverford, 13-3, one more time to capture the title.
Hopkins has now won four straight Centennial titles two different times since the conference formed in 1994. The Blue Jays also won four straight championships from 2001-04.
This is also the second time the Blue Jays ran through the conference regular season and tournament without a loss, with the other time coming in 2004.
Since the formation of the Centennial Conference in 1994, every four-year baseball JHU player has won at least two conference titles with the Blue Jays.

STREAKS
The Blue Jays had a winning-streak of 32 games that was broken in the second game of the doubleheader at Salisbury on the final day of the regular season. The streak ended just one game short of Hopkins' longest winning streak of 33 games, set in 2004. The 2010 streak lasted from March 18-May 8 and was the longest winning streak by any team in the nation this season (DIII).

HITTING STREAKS
There are four Blue Jays that have had hitting streaks of 15 or more games this season. Brian Youchak leads the way with an active hitting streak of 21 games.
Jesse Sikorski had a 19-game hitting streak while Chris Huisman and Dave Kahn each had 15-game hitting streaks.

WINNING TRADITION
Hopkins has the third-best winning-percentage out of all Division III baseball programs since 2000. The Blue Jays are 378-101-2 (.788) over the past 11 years. Only St. Scholastica (.824) and Wooster (.796) have higher winning percentages.

COUNTDOWN TO 900
Head coach Bob Babb is just one win away from his 900th career victory with a career record of 899-309-10 (.742). With one more win, Babb will be just the ninth DIII coach to reach the 900 win mark.

BABB WINS
Head coach Bob Babb entered the 2010 season ranked seventh among active DIII coaches with a winning percentage of .736, which has improved to .742 this season. He also entered the season sixth amongst active coaches wins with 857 career wins.

CAPPING A GREAT YEAR AT HOPKINS
Four different Hopkins teams will have top-eight finishes in the NCAA this year. Football and women's soccer advanced to the Elite 8 with baseball guaranteed to finish at least eighth in the country. The women's cross country finished seventh in the NCAA Championships.
Five more teams finished in the top-16 in the nation in their respective sports. Men's soccer, men's and women's tennis, and men's lacrosse all reached the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. Men's swimming finished 11th at the 2010 championship.

I'M HONORED
Dave Kahn was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year. He is the ninth Blue Jay player and 10th honoree to earn the honor. A Hopkins player has won the award in each of the last two years and three of the last four as Todd Emr earned the accolade in 2009 and Rob Sanzillo took top honors in 2007.
Sam Eagleson was named the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year. He is the fourth Blue Jay, and seventh honoree, to be named pitcher of the year. Eagleson is the first Blue Jay to earn the award since Jeremy Brown in 2004.

PLAYER/COACH
Assistant coach Jonas Fester will be the first person in Hopkins history to play in the College World Series and then also coach in the series as well. Fester was a member of the 2008 team that finished as national runner-up and now works primarily with the hitters and infielders as a coach.

IN THE POLLS
The Blue Jays are ranked #1 in the country in both the ABCA Poll and the NCBWA/D3Baseball.com Poll. This is the second time Hopkins has entered the NCAA Tournament as the top-ranked team in the nation as the 2004 team was also ranked first.

ALL-CENTENNIAL TEAM
Seven Blue Jays were named to the First Team All-Centennial Conference Team. Sam Eagleson and Greg Harbeck were pitchers, John Swarr as a catcher, Chris Huisman as a first baseman, Brian Youchak as a second baseman, and Dave Kahn and Jesse Sikorski as outfielders. Sikorski also earned the Mike Durgala Award as the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP.
Stephen Bejsiuk made the second team as a designated hitter.

HOPKINS TOPS THE NATION
Entering the NCAA Tournament, the Blue Jays led the nation in hits (601), runs (492) and home runs (76). The Blue Jays also have the best winning percentage in the nation (.907).
The Blue Jays are second in batting average (.384), runs/game (11.4) and sacrifice flies (34). Hopkins is ranked third in home runs/game (1.77) and slugging percentage (.613).
The pitching staff ranks fifth in the nation in hits allowed/nine innings (8.33).

AT THE HELM
Bob Babb (Johns Hopkins '77) is in his 31st season as head coach of the Johns Hopkins baseball team. and has compiled an 899-309-10 (.742) career record. Babb has led the Blue Jays to 11 Centennial Conference titles, 17 NCAA Tournament berths, three Regional Championships and the 2008 team finished as national runners-up.
Babb has coached 16 All-Americans and 16 Academic All-Americans. Ten of his players have been named Centennial Conference Players of the Year and seven have been named Centennial Conference Pitchers of the year. Thirteen of his players have gone on to sign professional contracts.
Babb is assisted by Phil Newman (Dickinson '04/4th season), Matt Righter (Johns Hopkins '04/2nd season), Steve Duncan (Wheaton (IL) '02/3rd season), Denny Cox (Bucknell '60/4th season), Jonas Fester (Johns Hopkins '08/2nd season), Gabby Castellano (Texas Tech '00/5th season), and Kevin Salamone (McDaniel '06/2nd season).

The Blue Jays will be led by captains Brian Youchak and Matt Wiegand. Youchak was named a D3Baseball.com Honorable Mention Preseason All-American.
