Johns Hopkins Sweeps Centennial Conference Awards

LANCASTER, PA – The All-Centennial Women's Indoor Track & Field team was announced by the Centennial Conference this morning. After bringing the trophy back to Baltimore, the Blue Jays have swept the awards after their record-breaking performance in late February. Alex Ross, Victoria Kadiri, Lauren Phillips and Bobby Van Allen were all honored the conference.

Ross, a senior distance runner, had a Centennial Conference Outdoor silver medal under her belt before a dominant weekend earned her Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer honors. Ross claimed an individual title in both the 3,000 and the 5,000. She set a new Centennial Conference Championship meet record in the 5,000 with a winning time of 17:03.93. Ross is the fifth Blue Jay to earn the honor at the Indoor Championships. She will compete in both events at the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend in North Carolina.

Kadiri, a sophomore from Lynn, MA, is off to a fantastic start to her Blue Jay career. After winning Outstanding Field Performer at the 2021 Outdoor Championships, Kadiri is now two-for-two, winning Outstanding Field Performer at last month's Indoor Championships. Kadiri took home three gold medals, already giving her five individual championships in just the two career Centennial events. Kadiri set a meet record with an NCAA qualifying mark of 5.85m in the long jump and brought home gold in the 60m dash and the pentathlon as well. Kadiri is set to compete in the long jump and the pentathlon at NCAA's this weekend.

In her first ever Centennial Championship, Phillips was as the award says, outstanding. The freshman won the 200m dash and placed second in the 400m run while also earning another gold as the lead leg in the 4x400 relay. Phillips is the second Blue Jay to win Outstanding Rookie honors at the Indoor Championships.

For the fourth straight season, Van Allen has been named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year. Van Allen's program has won 11 straight indoor titles.
