Johns Hopkins Falls to Centennial Leader Gettysburg, 1-0

BALTIMORE, MD - Junior midfielder Ashley Froman tallied the lone goal of the match in the 30th minute as Gettysburg defeated Johns Hopkins in women's soccer action tonight in Baltimore. The Blue Jays fell to 8-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Centennial Conference, while the Bullets remained perfect in conference play at 6-0 and improved to 9-4 overall.

Froman's goal came off an assist from freshman midfielder Jenny Line on a scramble in front of the net and gave the Bullets a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the opening period. Sophomore Carine Doyle made three saves to ensure the victory for Gettysburg.

Junior Shannon O'Malley (Greenlawn, NY/Long Island Lutheran) recorded three saves for JHU on the evening. She now has 36 for the season and needs just 16 more to move into second-place at Hopkins in career saves.

The Blue Jays return to action this Saturday with a home match against Bryn Mawr beginning at 1:00 p.m. JHU holds a 7-1 advantage all-time versus the Mawrters, including an 8-1 victory at Bryn Mawr last season.
