BALTIMORE, MD - Senior outside hitter Emily Miller (Richmond, VA/Governor's School) tallied a team-high 26 kills and 21 digs to lead the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a thrilling 3-2 (30-15, 24-30, 30-26, 27-30, 15-10) upset victory over Centennial rival Gettysburg tonight in Baltimore. The Blue Jays improved to 15-12 overall and kept their Centennial playoff hopes alive at 6-2 in CC action. The Bullets fell to 16-7 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
Miller, who moved into sixth-place at JHU in career kills, recorded her 16th double-double of the season. Junior middle hitter Elisabeth Breese (Geneva, NY/Geneva) was second on the team with 16 kills and added a team-high five blocks.
Freshman Erin Trish (Lexington, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon) was solid on the defensive end with 20 digs. She now has 68 digs in her last three matches, and is second on the team in digs per game (3.55). Freshman setter Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) also played well with a team-high 41 assists and 18 digs.
The Blue Jays return to action Saturday with another important Centennial Conference match at home versus Franklin & Marshall beginning at 12:00 p.m.
