BALTIMORE, MD - Freshman forward Jen Baldwin (Medway, MA/Medway) continued her excellent play this season with a goal and an assist to lead the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team to its third consecutive victory, a 2-0 decision tonight against visiting Washington College.
The Blue Jays kept their Centennial Conference playoff hopes alive with the victory and improved to 11-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in CC play. The Shorewomen fell to 3-11-2 overall and 1-7 in the Centennial.
Freshman midfielder Kathleen Turley (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) opened the scoring for Hopkins with her third goal of the year in the 48th minute off a feed from Baldwin. The assist was the tenth for Baldwin on the year, which sets a JHU single season record. Baldwin added her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 56th minute on a pass from junior midfielder Jill Minger (Durham, OR/St. Mary's).
The defense once again played strong, limiting the Shorewomen to just two shots. Blue Jay defenders have allowed just six shots in the past three games. Junior Shannon O'Malley (Greenlawn, NY/Long Island Lutheran) and sophomore Annie Adamczyk (Georgetown, MA/Governor Dummer) each played a half in goal for Hopkins, which recorded its ninth shutout for the season.
The Blue Jays will look for their fourth consecutive win in the final home match of the season against Mary Washington on Saturday. Kickoff for the non-conference contest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
