BRYN MAWR, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team won an easy Centennial Conference match against Bryn Mawr, 3-0 (30-15, 30-19, 30-15) last night to improve to 9-9 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Bryn Mawr fell to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the Centennial.
Junior middle hitter Elisabeth Breese (Geneva, NY/Geneva) led Hopkins with 15 kills and four blocks. She has reached the 200-kill mark for the season, and also leads the team with 56 total blocks. Senior outside hitter Emily Miller (Richmond, VA/Governor's School) was second on the team with 11 kills, in just two games, and added three aces.
Freshmen Erin Trish (Lexington, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon) and Catherine Albright (Louisville, CO/Fairview) tied for the team lead with eight digs, while Trish added seven assists and four kills. Junior defensive specialist Lilian Wouters (Tokyo, Japan/The American School) totaled seven digs and a team-high four aces.
Freshman setter Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) tallied a team-high 26 assists to go with three aces, four kills, and four digs. Freshman outside hitter Claire Grossman (New York, NY/U.N. International School) chipped in with a career-high four kills.
The Blue Jays will be in action again tonight with an away match against Haverford starting at 7:00 p.m. JHU leads the all-time series against the Fords, 12-3, including a 3-2 victory last year.
