BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior running back Davon Cruz (Glen Burnie, MD/Allegheny) rushed for a game-high 212 yards and four touchdowns on just 14 carries and the quick-strike Bridgewater offense had four touchdown drives which lasted less than one minute as the third-ranked Eagles picked up a 50-27 victory over Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field Friday night. The Blue Jays took the opening kickoff and worked their way from their own 33-yard line to the Bridgewater 17 on just three plays before freshman Adam Cook (New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock) fumbled the ball away after a 36-yard gain. The fumble was the first of five costly turnovers for the Blue Jays. The lead held until late in the first quarter when Bridgewater linebacker Lonnie Parker (Culpepper, VA/Culpepper) picked a fumble out of the air and raced 47 yards to give the Eagles a 7-3 lead. Cruz made it 14-3 less than three minutes later with his 84-yard touchdown run, but the Blue Jays answered back just over two minutes later when senior quarterback Rob Heleniak (Philadelphia, PA/Germantown Academy) found sophomore wide receiver Jason Lehman (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) in the corner of the end zone from 23 yards out to make it 14-10. After Cruz pushed the lead to 21-10, Hopkins responded with a 15-play, 72-yard drive that was capped by a four-yard run by Heleniak to make it 21-17 with just over two minutes remaining before halftime.

Bridgewater senior quarterback Jason Lutz (Basye, VA/Stonewall Jackson) put the game away with a pair of one-yard touchdown runs, the first just 20 seconds after Heleniak's scoring run in the second quarter to make it 28-17 at halftime, and the second midway through the third quarter to make it 35-17. The Blue Jays would get no closer than 15 the rest of the way.
