Johns Hopkins Defeated by Muhlenberg, 1-0

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team fell to Muhlenberg, 1-0, in Centennial Conference action today in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The Blue Jays had their 17-game unbeaten streak snapped and allowed a goal for the first time this season. JHU is now 5-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the Centennial, while Muhlenberg improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in CC action.

Freshman Becky Armstrong scored the lone goal of the game on an assist sophomore Sharon Seggel in the 39th minute. Junior goaltender Kim Laurino kept the Mules in front with eight saves on the afternoon. Junior Shannon O'Malley (Greenlawn, NY/Long Island Lutheran) made three saves for Hopkins.

JHU held a 16-12 advantage in shots, but could not find the net for the second consecutive game. The last time Hopkins went two straight games without scoring was during the 1999 season.

The Blue Jays will return to action on Tuesday, September 25 with an away match against Salisbury State at 4:00 p.m. The game will mark the fourth meeting between the schools in the all-time series, with Salisbury holding a 2-1 advantage.
