BALTIMORE, MD - Junior center Kathy Darling (Milford, DE/Milford) scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team to an 88-45 victory over Centennial rival Gettysburg tonight in Baltimore. The Blue Jays improved to 17-3 overall and 8-1 in Centennial play, while the Bullets fell to 10-10 overall and 6-5 in CC action. With its 17th win of the season, JHU equaled its victory total from last year.

With the score 18-10 in JHU's favor with 12 minutes remaining in the first half, the Blue Jays went on a 22-7 run to take a 40-17 lead with 3:14 left. JHU shot 60 percent in the half and had a 45-24 cushion at halftime. Hopkins opened the second half on a 22-10 run to take a 67-34 lead with 11:56 left in the game and cruised to victory.

Darling hit 8-of-10 shots from the field and also added eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Trista Snyder (West Chester, PA/Unionville) joined Darling in double figures with 12 points. Freshmen Ashley Felix (Pittsburgh, PA/North Catholic), Ashanna Randall (Media, PA/Penncrest), and Kelly Rumsey (Atlanta, GA/Marist School) each totaled nine points, and 13 of 16 Blue Jays who played scored in the contest. Randall also grabbed seven rebounds as JHU held a 53-to-40 advantage on the boards.

Sophomore guard Dana Bear led the Bullets with 13 points, and senior guard Jen Nolan added nine points to go with four rebounds. Gettysburg shot just 23 percent (16-of-70) for the game compared to 52 percent (32-of-61) for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays next travel to Muhlenberg on Saturday for a crucial Centennial Conference game against the Mules at 4:00 p.m.
