HAVERFORD, PA - Sophomore Trista Snyder (West Chester, PA/Unionville) scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team to an easy 81-28 victory against Haverford tonight in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improved to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in Centennial action, while Haverford fell to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in CC play.
Snyder scored in double figures for the fifth time in the last six games, shooting 5-for-10 from the field and 2-for-2 from the foul line. Junior Kathy Darling (Milford, DE/Milford) scored nine points, while sophomore Maureen Myers (Waverly, PA/Abington Heights) and freshmen Alissa Burkholder (Allentown, PA/Salisbury), Ashanna Randall (Media, PA/Penncrest), and Kelly Rumsey (Atlanta, GA/Marist School) added eight points each. Darling, Rumsey, and Randall each grabbed six rebounds to lead the team.
Junior Ashley Shepler (Tornado, WV/Charleston Catholic) recorded a game-high eight assists, one short of her career mark, and added four steals. Freshman Ashley Felix (Pittsburgh, PA/North Catholic) totaled four assists and three steals.
Hopkins limited the Fords to just 26 percent shooting from the field and forced 32 turnovers. Erin McCartney, Cristina Day, and Jamie Rosenberger led Haverford with six points apiece.
The Blue Jays return to action Tuesday, January 8 with an away game against Washington College at 6 p.m. JHU will look to win its fifth consecutive game and improve to 11-0 all-time versus the Shorewomen.
