Eisley Leads Hopkins To 84-76 Win over Washington College

Chestertown, MD - Senior forward Matthew Eisley (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) scored a season-high 27 points to lead the Johns Hopkins men's basketball team to an 84-76 win over Washington College Wednesday night at the Cain Athletic Center.

Steve Adams (Butler, PA/Butler) and Kevin Marquez (Oakton, VA/Oakton) each added 12 points for the Blue Jays, who won their fourth straight game and improved to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. Brendan Kamm (Avon, NJ/Somerville) added 10 points and a game-high five assists.

Hopkins led for most of the first half, but Washington College stayed close, as the Blue Jays could not take a lead of more than five points. Two foul shots by Bryan Mason, who led the Shoremen with 22 points, cut the Hopkins lead to 38-36 at the half.

The game remained close in the second half, and a three-pointer by Aaron Goode cut the JHU lead to 53-52 with 12:58 remaining, but the Blue Jays went on an 18-4 run over the next six minutes to take a 71-57 advantage with 6:46 left. Eisley, who shot 10-of-11 from the field, scored 10 points in the crucial run.

The Shoremen (4-8, 0-3) cut the lead to six with 4:21 left, but Adams hit a foul shot and Marquez nailed a three-pointer to extend the lead to 10. Washington twice cut the Hopkins lead to six in the final minute, but the Blue Jays put the game away at the foul line.

Hopkins will look to extend its winning streak to five games when the Blue Jays host non-conference foe Villa Julie Saturday at 3 p.m.
