Hopkins Falls to Franklin & Marshall, 3-0

LANCASTER, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team was defeated by Franklin & Marshall, 3-0 (19-30, 27-30, 31-33) this afternoon in Centennial Conference action and is now 18-18 overall and 7-2 in the conference. The Diplomats improved to 25-6 overall and 9-0 in CC play.

Junior Stephanie Kaliades (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) led the Blue Jays with 13 kills and added three aces and four blocks. She became the third player in school history to total 400 kills in a season and leads JHU with 411 kills on the year.

Freshman Jen Hajj (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul IV) chipped in with five kills, while sophomore Skye Young (Salisbury, MD/James M. Bennett) added four kills and seven digs. Junior Samantha Raggi (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) tallied a team-high six blocks, and freshman Colby Perkins (Manhattan Beach, CA/Mira Costa) collected eight digs.

Sophomore Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) led Hopkins with 24 assists and 11 digs. She became the first player in school history to record over 400 digs in two seasons. Baydala leads the Blue Jays with 410 after collecting 407 digs as a freshman and ranks eighth at JHU in career kills.

Hopkins returns to action Wednesday, October 30 as the Blue Jays host McDaniel in the final home match of the season at 7:00 p.m.
