BALTIMORE, MD - Junior Stephanie Kaliades (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) totaled a team-high 11 kills to lead the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of McDaniel in Centennial Conference action this evening in Goldfarb Gymnasium.
The Blue Jays improved to 19-18 overall and finished 8-2 in Centennial matches, while the Green Terror fell to 13-16 overall and 4-6 in the conference. Hopkins has secured a berth in the conference tournament scheduled for Saturday, November 9.
In addition to leading the team in kills, Kaliades also collected four digs, two blocks, and tied the school record for aces in a three-game match with 11. She tied Mary Alexis Paul who recorded 11 aces versus the University of Chicago during the 1999 season. Kaliades leads the team with 61 aces and is also tops on the squad with 422 kills.
Junior Samantha Raggi (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) added eight kills and four blocks, while sophomore Skye Young (Salisbury, MD/James M. Bennett) chipped in with seven kills. Sophomore Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) collected a team-high 17 assists and seven digs, and senior Courtney Cromwell (Westbury, NY/Carle Place) registered 11 assists and six digs. -
Hopkins returns to action Saturday as the Blue Jays travel to Grantham, Pennsylvania for the Messiah Tournament beginning at 9:00 a.m.
