BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore midfielder Kathleen Turley (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) recorded the first hat trick of her career and added an assist to lead the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team to an easy 4-0 win over visiting Ursinus this afternoon in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improve to 6-4-1 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while the Bears fall to 4-7-1 overall and 0-3-1 in CC play.
Turley, who scored the game-winning goal against Muhlenberg in JHU's last game, opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Ursinus goalkeeper Cara Goldberg was unable to control the shot. She added her second in the 23rd minute to give Hopkins a 2-0 halftime cushion.
Sophomore midfielder Sandra Lebo (Princeton Junction, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro) put JHU up 3-0 as she scored her second goal of the season off a feed from Turley in the 63rd minute. Turley capped the scoring in the 70th minute with her team-leading fourth goal of the year. She also leads JHU with 10 total points and has 19 points for her career.
Junior Annie Adamczyk (Georgetown, MA/Governor Dummer) and freshman Jen Goebel (Jericho, NY/Jericho) combined for the shutout, the sixth of the year for Hopkins. Adamczyk made four saves as JHU controlled much of the game and allowed just five shots.
The Blue Jays return to action Tuesday as Hopkins travels to face Misericordia at 4:00 p.m. The two teams met last season in the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament, with JHU taking a 2-0 decision.
