Baltimore, MD - Johns Hopkins junior forward Chad Tarabolous (Tulsa, OK/Cascia Hall) scored two goals as Johns Hopkins defeated Villa Julie, 4-0, in the first game of the 2002 Dr. Al Tucci JHU Kickoff Classic at Homewood Field Saturday afternoon. In the classic's second match, Nate Graham headed home a Brian Wolcott cross in the fifth minute of overtime to lead St. Mary's to a 1-0 win over Manhattanville.

In the opening match, freshman forward Edmond Wybaillie (Great Falls, VA/Langley) scored Hopkins' first goal of the season just 7:24 into the match, and junior midfielder Mike Poston (Nashua, NH/Nashua) took a feed from senior midfielder Adam Hack (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) and scored in the 33rd minute to give Hopkins a two-goal lead.

JHU maintained the 2-0 advantage until the 71st minute before Tarabolous scored two goals in a 3:26 span, the second coming off an assist from senior defender Matt Weill (Merrick, NY/Kellenberg Memorial).

The four goals would be plenty for the Blue Jay defense, led by senior Greg Mangels (Glenside, PA/Cheltenham), freshman Jeff Grosser (Beach Haven, NJ/Shawnee), Weill, and junior Rob Morrison (Malibu, CA/Loyola), which held the Mustangs to just three shots in the game. Goalkeepers Gary Kane, Jr. (Lansdale, PA/LaSalle College) and Nicholas Challen (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional) needed to make just one save apiece to combine on the shutout.

In the second match, Graham headed the cross by Wolcott past Manhattanville goalkeeper AJ Kretschmer to give the Seahawks the dramatic win. Each team had chances to win in regulation, but both Kretschmer and St. Mary's goalkeeper Brian Morrison made six saves to keep the game scoreless.

The classic continues Sunday, as Hopkins and Manhattanville face off at 1 p.m. and St. Mary's and Villa Julie play at 3 p.m.
