Poston Leads JHU Men's Soccer Over Ursinus, 4-1

Collegeville, PA - Johns Hopkins junior midfielder Mike Poston (Nashua, NH/Nashua) scored two goals to lead the Blue Jays past Ursinus, 4-1, in Centennial Conference men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Jays improved to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the league with the win, while Ursinus fell to 4-4-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Poston put Hopkins on the board in the sixth minute when he scored off a feed from junior defender Rob Morrison (Malibu, CA/Loyola), and senior midfielder Daniel Brienza (Farmingville, NY/Sachem) added an unassisted goal nine minutes later to give the Blue Jays a two-goal lead.

Mike Papenberg cut the JHU lead in half with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute, but Hopkins senior midfielder Adam Hack (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) responded with an unassisted goal six minutes later, and the Blue Jays took a 3-1 lead into the half.

Poston added his second goal of the match in the 63rd minute, as freshman forward Edmond Wybaillie (Great Falls, VA/Langley) and junior forward Chad Tarabolous (Tulsa, OK/Cascia Hall) recorded assists.

JHU sophomore goalkeeper Gary Kane, Jr. (Lansdale, PA/LaSalle College) made two saves in the first 84 minutes of the match, while senior Nicholas Challen (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional) did not need to make a save in the final six minutes.

Hopkins, which has now won 23 consecutive regular season conference matches, looks to continue its streak next Saturday when the Blue Jays host Muhlenberg at 7 p.m.
