Hopkins Defeats NYU in Overtime, 1-0

New York, NY - Junior Erinn Sosa (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) scored off a pass from Candace Brakewood (Columbia, SC/Masuk) in overtime to defeat the Violets 1-0 in Women's Soccer action Sunday at Riverbank State Park in New York City.

The Violets out shot the Blue Jays 10-4, as both teams recorded three-corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Shannon O'Malley (Greenlawn, NY/L.I. Lutheran) made five saves on the afternoon for the Blue Jays, while junior Becca Giefer made one save and freshmen Alison Meyers made two saves for the Violets.

The Blue Jays have now gone 593 minutes, dating back to the Centennial Conference Championship against Muhlenberg last season, without allowing a goal, including three games this season.

The Blue Jays return to action Wednesday, September 11 as JHU opens its home schedule against the Falcons of Messiah at 7:00 p.m.
