YORK, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team defeated the York Spartans 3-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday. Sophomore defender Laura Elgort (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) netted the game-winner on an assist from senior midfielder Annie Colabella (East Granby, CT/East Granby) at the 69:40 mark.
The goal was Elgort's first of the season and her second in her career at JHU. Colabella also added an insurance goal at 78:23 to secure the win for Hopkins. The Blue Jays jumped out to an early lead when junior defender Sandra Lebo (Princeton Junction, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro) scored at 5:39 on an assist from sophomore forward Meg McIntosh (Los Angelas, CA/Brentwood). The Spartans tied the game when junior midfielder Natasha Rust (Gambrills, MD/South River) scored on a pass from senior forward Jen Siegel (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong) at 15:32.
Senior goalkeeper Annie Adamczyk (Georgetown, MA/Governor Dummer) recorded five saves for the Blue Jays. Hopkins out-shot York 16-13 including a 12-6 advantage in the second half.
