SWARTHMORE, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team lost 2-1 in overtime to Swartmore on Friday night in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. Sophomore midfielder Becky Strauss (McLean, VA/McLean) netted the game-winner for the Garnet in the 93rd minute.
In a game that was delayed twice for travel issues with Hopkins and then a thunderstorm that gave the whole campus a power outage, the Blue Jays were able to jump out to an early lead. Freshman defender Lindsey Kimura (Los Angelas, CA/Harvard-Westlake) scored her third goal of the season on an assist from freshman forward Lauren Baumann (Milford, MI/Greenmills School) at the 40:39 mark. Freshman midfielder Jane Sachs (Fox Point, WI/Nicolett) notched the game at one when she scored off of a pass from senior midfielder Katey McKaffrey (Pueblo, CO/Fountain Valley).
The Blue Jays fall to 3-2 in conference play and 9-4-1 overall. Up next for Hopkins is a home match against rival Gettysburg on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m.
