WESTMINSTER, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team picked up a crucial conference win over McDaniel, 3-1, on Wednesday in Westminster, Pennslyvania. The Blue Jays have now won two matches in a row and improve to 11-6-1 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
Junior midfielder Kathleen Turley (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) netted her first goal of the season at the 3:42 mark to give JHU an early 1-0 lead. Hopkins struck again when sophomore forward Meg McIntosh (Los Angelas, CA/Brentwood) scored her seventh goal of the season off of a pass from senior midfielder Annie Colabella (East Granby, CT/East Granby) at 4:57.
The Green Terror closed the gap to 2-1 when senior midfielder Christine Mayne (Petersburg, NJ/Ocean City) scored an unassisted goal at 72:43. However, the Blue Jays put the game away when freshman Lauren Baumann (Milford, MI/Greenmills School) continued her excellent rookie season with a tally at 80:30 to make the score 3-1.
Hopkins controlled possession throughout the game and finished with a 12-4 shot advantage. Up next for Hopkins is the final home match of the season when they host conference rival Dickinson on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
