Swarthmore, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team swept Dickinson, 3-0, and Swarthmore, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference tri-match at Swarthmore.
Hopkins defeated the Red Devils 30-15, 30-23, 30-14, and topped the Garnet 30-26, 30-22, 30-23.
With the two wins the Blue Jays improve to 21-6 overall and 8-1 in the league, and clinched a spot in the conference tournament on November 8. Hopkins, which can still host the tournament and can finish no lower than third, will now have appeared in all six league tournaments. Only Gettysburg has also appeared in the previous five.
Senior Stephanie Kaliades (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) led the Blue Jays against the Red Devils by recording 17 kills and 13 digs, while junior Betsy Baydala (Rockville Center, NY/South Side) also had 13 digs to go along with 32 assists. Sophomore Kate O'Callaghan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) and freshman Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) each added 13 digs as well.
O'Callaghan had a team-high 13 kills in the victory over the Garnet Tide, while Baydala aded 47 assists and Kaliades recorded 20 digs.
The Blue Jays host Washington College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in their final regular season home match of the season.
