Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's basketball team shot 57.1 percent from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers en route to an 84-65 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference action Saturday afternoon in Goldfarb Gymnasium.

The Blue Jays, who won their second straight game to improve to 15-5 overall and 6-3 in the league, were led by senior forward Steve Adams (Butler, PA/Butler), who recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. JHU sophomore forward Eric Toback (Ellicott City, MD/Mount Hebron) added 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while junior guard Kevin Marquez (Oakton, VA/Oakton) also scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field.

Ryan Bonda scored 15 points to lead the Mules, who fell to 7-13 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

Muhlenberg stayed with Hopkins early, and a free throw by John Jemmott gave the Mules a 16-15 lead with 9:42 remaining in the first half. But the Blue Jays responded by scoring the game's next 16 points, and took their largest lead of the half at 40-21 on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Marc Leone (Radnor, PA/Radnor) with 56 seconds left in the stanza.

Adams hit a free throw to begin the spurt, and Toback followed with a jumper and two free throws to make it a 20-16 game. JHU junior guard Matt Righter (Clarion, PA/Lawrenceville Prep) then hit a three-pointer, and after Adams added three straight baskets, freshman forward Frank Mason (Silver Spring, MD/Barrie School) hit a lay-up to give the Blue Jays a 31-16 lead at the 4:43 mark.

After Hopkins built the 19-point lead, Bonda hit a three-pointer to cut the Hopkins lead to 40-24 at the half. The Mules made a run in the second half, scoring six straight points to cut the Hopkins lead to 58-43 with 10:35 remaining, but the Blue Jays responded with a 9-0 spurt to put the game away. Mason hit two free throws to open the run, and after senior guard Brendan Kamm (Avon, NJ/Somerville) hit one, Righter added two to make it a 20-point game. Lay-ups by Mason and senior center Mike Blaine (Washington, DC/Bishop Ireton) gave the Blue Jays a 67-43 lead with 7:06 left, their largest advantage of the game.

Kamm finished with 12 points, three assists, and two steals for Hopkins, which improved to 8-0 at home this season. Toomey Anderson chipped in 12 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds for the Mules.

The Blue Jays, who remain one game behind Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall in the conference's west division, travel to Swarthmore Wednesday for an 8 p.m. tip with the Garnet.
