BALTIMORE, Md. -- The 19th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's basketball team had 13 different players score and head coach Nancy Funk subbed liberally throughout the game as the Blue Jays knocked off host Bryn Mawr, 70-37 in Centennial Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The win is the second straight for the Blue Jays, who improve to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the league. Bryn Mawr falls to 1-9, 0-6.
Hopkins used a balanced scoring attack that didn't see anyone reach double-figures. Senior Trista Snyder scored nine points and added seven rebounds and freshman Julie Miller added nine points and five rebounds to lead the way. The Blue Jays also got eight points from juniors Alissa Burkholder and Kelly Rumsey. The Blue Jays won the game on the backboard as they outrebounded the Owls, 66-36 and came up with 35 offensive rebounds.
Amy Johnson, who scored a game-high 13 points and added eight rebounds, led Bryn Mawr. JoAnn Gage added 11 points and seven rebounds, but the Owls connected on just 11-of-49 shots from the field and turned the ball over 18 times to fall to the Blue Jays for the 10th straight time.
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Tuesday, January 13 when the Blue Jays host Haverford in another Centennial Conference matchup. The Blue Jays are 10-0 all-time against the Fords.
