BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team shutout the Garnet of Swarthmore, 3-0 in Centennial Conference volleyball action tonight in Swarthmore. The Blue Jays even their record at 9-9 on the year, and 3-2 in the conference, while Swarthmore falls to 6-12 and 1-6.
Juniors Katie O?Callaghan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) and Jen Hajj (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul II) led the Blue Jays in kills with 10 each. O?Callaghan also added 15 digs in the effort for the Blue Jays. Senior Betsy Baydala (Rockville Center, NY/Southside) collected seven digs and 22 assists for the Blue Jays, while Freshman Mary Gorski (Birmingham, MI/Shrine Catholic) who shared the setting duties with Baydala collected 21 assists.
Freshman Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CT/Windsor) picked up seven kills, her highest kill total ever. Sophomore Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) added 27 digs to lead the Blue Jays to victory.
The Blue Jays will be off for the rest of the week, battling Dickinson at home on Tuesday October 12 at 7 pm.
