Box Score

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Junior Ashanna Randall (Media, PA/Penncrest) scored a game-high 13 points and added seven rebounds to lead the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team to a 78-19 victory over Bryn Mawr Saturday afternoon. The win is the fourth straight for the Blue Jays, who improve to 16-2 overall and 11-1 in the Centennial Conference. Bryn Mawr slips to 2-16, 0-13.

The Blue Jays scored the first six points of the game and answered Bryn Mawr's first basket with a 19-0 run to extend a 6-2 lead to 25-2 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half. Randall scored all 10 of her first half points during the 19-0 run and the Blue Jays got three pointers from seniors Maureen Myers (Waverly, PA/Abington Heights) and Trista Snyder (West Chester, PA/Unionville) to fuel the spree as well.

The teams played evenly for the next five minutes before the Blue Jays extended a 35-10 lead to 60-13 with a 25-3 run that bridged the first and second halves. Nine different players scored during the 25-3 run with freshman Whitney Davis (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) scoring five of her seven points to lead the charge, while Myers chipped in with four of her seven.

Randall was the only Hopkins player to score in double figures, while Snyder added nine points and three rebounds. Davis, Myers and junior Alissa Burkholder (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) all scored seven points and 14 of Hopkins' 15 players scored during the game. Junior Ashley Felix (Pittsburgh, PA/North Catholic), who ranks seventh in the nation in steals per game, picked up eight steals to run her season total to 79 (4.4/game).

Amy Johnson (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards) led Bryn Mawr with 12 points and seven rebounds, but the Owls committed 36 turnovers, hit just 6-of-34 shots from the floor and were outrebounded, 46-23 in falling to the Blue Jays for the 11th straight time.

The win sets up a rematch with Centennial Conference-leading McDaniel on Tuesday night at Goldfarb Gym at 7:00 pm. McDaniel entered Saturday's game at Haverford with a 17-2 overall record and a 13-0 mark in league play. The Green Terror defeated the Blue Jays, 76-60 on January 22 and another win over Hopkins would virtually assure McDaniel the top seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament (February 28-29).
