EWING, NJ - Lynda Schuster scored one goal and added an assist to lead the fourth-ranked College of New Jersey women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Johns Hopkins in the season-opener for both team Wednesday night. The win is CNJ's sixth straight over the Blue Jays and the loss is the first for Hopkins in a season-opener since 1999.

Schuster scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute when she went in alone on Blue Jay goalie Joe Goebel (Jericho, NY/Jericho) and slid her first goal of the season past her. The Lions pushed the lead to 2-0 just seven minutes later when Christine Mullen headed home a pass from Brittany Boyd.

The 2-0 lead held until the final three minutes of the game when Schuster fed Stephanie Peters in front and Peters slipped a low shot past Goebel to close out the scoring.

Alissa Kacar made three saves in goal for the Lions to pick up the shutout. The Lions outshot the Blue Jays, 12-3 and Goebel made six saves in goal for Hopkins.

Johns Hopkins will next be in action on Friday night when the Blue Jays host Mount Union in the first round of the 2004 JHU Invitational.
