LANCASTER, Pa. - The Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall defeated the Blue Jays, 3-1, in Centennial Conference volleyball action this evening in Lancaster. With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 6-5 on the year, and have a 1-1 record in Conference play.
The Blue Jays jumped out early and took the first game from the Diplomats 30-25. The Diplomats, however, were able to bounce back and pick up the next three games by the scores of 30-24, 30-28 and 30-24.
Junior Jen Hajj (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul II) led the Blue Jays in kills with 15 in the match, while classmate Katie O?Callaghan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) chipped in 14 for the Jays. Freshman Mary Gorski (Birmingham, MI/Shrine Catholic) led the team with 28 assists, while senior Betsy Baydala (Rockville Center, NY/Southside) continued her superb play this season with 24 assists, 33 digs and 13 kills.
The Blue Jays will next participate in the Sea Gull Classic, which will take place at Salisbury beginning this Friday.
