CARLISLE, PA - Allyson Teatom and Laura Housel combined for 29 points and 26 rebounds to lead the Dickinson College women's basketball team to a 55-48 victory over visiting Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Red Devils record to 14-1 overall, 9-1 in the Centennial Conference, while the Blue Jays dropped their second straight and slip to 13-4, 8-2. The win is Dickinson's school-record 10th straight.
Dickinson held a 25-24 halftime lead as Housel scored 10 of her 14 points in a back-and-forth first half that saw five ties and four lead changes. The Devils led by just three at 35-32 midway through the second half after an Alissa Burkholder jumper for the Blue Jays, but that lead quickly swelled to 43-34 after a three-pointer by Patrice Johnson and a short jumper by Jen Reitmeyer.
The Blue Jays cut the deficit to 50-48 with just over a minute to play on a jumper by Whitney Davis, but those would be the final points of the game for the Blue Jays. Teatom nailed a pair of free throws with 32 seconds remaining and Megan Shelley's layup with 19 seconds left pushed the lead to 54-48 and sealed the win for the Devils.
Teatom scored 15 points and added 16 rebounds, while Housel added the 14 points and 10 rebounds. Shelley and Jessica Howard added eight points apiece for Dickinson, which is now tied for first place in the Centennial Conference with McDaniel.
Senior Ashanna Randall led the Blue Jays with 17 points and 13 rebounds, but no other Johns Hopkins player reached double figures as Burkholder was the next highest scorer with seven points.
