CARLISLE, PA - Senior Edmond Wybaillie scored one goal and assisted the other to lead the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. The victory snapped a four-game winless streak for the Blue Jays and got them back on track as Centennial Conference action heats up.
Hopkins improved to 6-1-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the conference, while Dickinson dropped to 6-4 and 1-3.
Johns Hopkins scored its first goal just seven minutes into action when senior Jeff Grossser scored a header off a cross from Wybaillie. Neither team scored again in the first half as the Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead into the break. Wyballie scored his second goal of the year unassisted at 35:01.
The Blue Jays finished with a 26-3 advantage on shots and an 8-0 lead on corner kicks. Junior Dan Coble needed just one save for Hopkins, while senior Aaron Stemplewicz and freshman Rodrigo Barboza combined for 12 saves in goal for Dickinson. Barboza replaced Stemplewicz after the two goals.
Johns Hopkins has now won its last 12 games against Dickinson and holds a 27-11-3 lead in the all-time series history. The Blue Jays take a break from conference competition this Wednesday, October 5, when they travel to Montclair State for a 7 pm game.
