Third Game Run Leads Volleyball Past Bryn Mawr, 3-0

BRYN MAWR, PA - Johns Hopkins used a 21-3 run in game three to get past Bryn Mawr, 3-0 (30-25, 30-23, 30-14), in Centennial Conference women's volleyball on Saturday afternoon.

Hopkins maintains its hold on first place with a 7-1 conference record. The Blue Jays are 21-5 overall. Bryn Mawr drops to 6-16 overall, 1-7 in the conference.

In the clincher, the Owls took an 11-9 lead before Hopkins pulled away for the 30-14 win, hitting .429 in the game.

For the match, the Blue Jays attacked at a .278 rate, a team-high in Centennial games this season.

Senior Jen Hajj (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul II) and sophomore Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CA/Windsor) led the offense with 14 kills each. Hajj hit at a .619 clip on the afternoon.

With a her 38 assists, freshman Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) became the first Blue Jay to record 1,200 assists in a season. Lewis passed the single-season record of 1,188 set by Michelle Dumler in 1997.

For the Owls, freshman Elizabeth Sinclair recorded a team-high seven kills. Senior Taylor Beaudry posted 16 assists in the losing effort.

Hopkins puts first place on the line Tuesday night, as they head to Westminster for a 7 p.m. match with McDaniel. The Green Terror come into the match with a 5-3 conference record, but have dropped eight straight.
