BALTIMORE - Johns Hopkins won the final two games to finish off a win over Swarthmore 30-17, 27-30, 30-20, 30-23 in Centennial Conference volleyball Tuesday night at Goldfarb Gym.
The Blue Jays won their second Centennial game of the year, and move to 16-5 overall, with a 2-1 conference record. Swarthmore slips to 9-5 with the loss, and 3-2 in conference play.
This was the 12th win in a row for Hopkins over the Garnet, giving them a 15-4 advantage in the series.
Sophomore Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CA/Windsor) and senior Katie O'Callaghan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) each registered a double-double, with Fijalkowski racking up 16 kills and 18 digs and O'Callaghan turning in 15 kills and 18 digs. Junior Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) and freshman Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) took match-high honors in their categories, as Kay had 19 digs and Lewis put up 54 assists.
Junior Erica George (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe) led the Garnet offensive attack with 10 kills while senior Emily Conlon (Marlborough, CT/Loomis Chaffee) dished out 33 assists. Freshmen Jen Wang (Palo Alto, CA/Henry Gunn) and Erin Heaney (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) each had double-digit digs, with 15 and 13, respectively. Sophomore Vanessa Wells (Chicago, IL/Lincoln Park) knocked down four blocks for Swarthmore.
Hopkins will host Franklin & Marshall Saturday at 1 p.m. at Goldfarb Gym.
