BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore Julie Miller (Annandale, VA/Thomas Jefferson) led Johns Hopkins with 10 points and nine rebounds and senior Ashanna Randall (Media, PA/Penncrest) added 10 points and eight boards in the Blue Jays' 60-42 win over Franklin and Marshall at Goldfarb Gymnasium. Hopkins improved to 15-4 overall and 10-2 in the Centennial Conference while the Diplomats dropped to 8-10 and 6-6.
Franklin and Marshall stayed with Hopkins for the first five minutes and trailed just 12-7 at 15:21, but junior Katie O'Malley (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) scored all six of her points in the next eight minutes to lead a 16-2 Blue Jay run. Johns Hopkins led 28-9 at 7:22 and entered the break ahead 33-21.
Randall and Miller each had eight points at the break for the Blue Jays, who shot 43 percent from the floor and held the Diplomats to 29 percent shooting. Lauren Dodrill led Franklin and Marshall with nine points and a game-high six rebounds but Hopkins had a 21-18 rebounding advantage at the half.
Johns Hopkins put the game away early in the second half, extending its lead to 20 points, 45-25, within 10 minutes before a three-pointer from sophomore Whitney Davis (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) gave the Blue Jays their biggest lead, 50-27, at 8:16.
Hopkins finished the game shooting 38 percent from the floor, while Franklin and Marshall shot 26 percent. The Blue Jays also dominated the boards 48-39 and forced 32 Diplomat turnovers.
Ten players scored for Hopkins, including freshman Andrea Dodrill (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) with eight points and Davis with seven. Senior Ashley Felix (Pittsburgh, PA/North Catholic) finished with six points, six rebounds and three steals.
F&M's Lauren Dodrill had a double-double performance with game-highs of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Johns Hopkins continues Centennial Conference action this Saturday, Feb. 5 at Bryn Mawr (2 p.m.).
