Wojdowski Nets Career-High 19 Points In Hopkins Win

BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore Haley Wojdowski (Mars, PA/Mars Area) scored a career-high 19 points and senior Ashanna Randall (Media, PA/Media) added 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team to an 87-49 win over Haverford at Goldfarb Gymnasium. The Blue Jays improved to 18-4 overall and 13-2 in the Centennial Conference while the Fords dropped to 4-17 and 1-14.

Sophomore Julie Miller (Annandale, VA/Thomas Jefferson) scored six of Johns Hopkins first nine points as the Blue Jays jumped to a 13-0 lead. Haverford finally got on the board at 15:05 and outscored Hopkins 16-9 in the next seven minutes to come within six, 22-16, with 8:18 remaining in the half. That was the closest the Fords would come, as senior Alissa Burkholder (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) hit four straight free throws to bring the Hopkins lead back to double digits. The Jays led 43-26 at the break.

Miller had a team-high nine points in the first while Randall added seven points, seven rebounds and three steals. The Blue Jays totaled 11 steals while the Fords committed 14 turnovers. Hopkins was 14 of 17 from the free throw line and edged Haverford from the field, 37 percent (13 for 35) to 34 percent (11 for 32).

Hopkins doubled its lead within the first seven minutes of the second half and allowed just one Haverford field goal until 8:35 remained in the game. Wojdowski scored points in the second half, when she shot 3 for 4 from three-point range. The Jays had their largest lead, 81-34 (47 points), at 6:26 before Meredith Foote hit back-to-back threes for the Fords.

Wojdowski finished 7 for 14 from the field and 4 for 7 from long range, and added six rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Randall chipped in three steals and two blocks to go along with her double-double, while Miller scored 10 points and grabbed eight boards.

Katie Crowley, Erica Juliano and Kate Wettstein led Haverford with 11, 10 and 10 points respectively.

Johns Hopkins returns to Goldfarb this Wednesday, Feb. 16 for its final home game of the regular season. The Blue Jays host Gettysburg at 6 p.m.
