West Point, NY - Nick Marchuk went 8-0 in foil to lead the Johns Hopkins men's fencing team to three wins at the United States Military Academy this past weekend. The Blue Jays defeated Stevens Tech 16-11, Hunter 18-9 and the host Black Knights 15-12.
Marchuk went 3-0 and Bryan Bishe won both of his bouts to lead the Hopkins foil squad to a 6-3 win against Stevens Tech. Anson Tang's 3-0 record paced the epee team to 5-4 win while Park went 2-0 for the 5-4 Hopkins win in saber.
Marchuck extended his undefeated mark through the Hunter match, where he finished 2-0. James McIver and Max Yusem went 2-1 while Bishe won his only bout against Hunter for a 7-2 team victory in foil.
Tang also remained undefeated on the day with another 3-0 performance while Tom Fellows finished 2-1 as the Hopkins epee squad defeated Hunter 5-4. Aaron Fernandes' 3-0 mark and Fred Lee's 2-1 record led the Blue Jay saber team to a 6-3 win.
Hopkins' only win against Army came 7-2 in foil, where Marchuk went 3-0 to finish the day undefeated. Yusem and Bishe each won two and lost one in foil. Army edged the Blue Jays 5-4 in saber and epee but 2-1 performances from Fellows, Tang and Jason Park helped Hopkins to the overall team win.
