ALLENTOWN, PA - Junior Jessie McKenzie (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) broke a scoreless draw in the 76th minute, scoring her first goal of the season to lift #15 Johns Hopkins past Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference women's soccer on Saturday.
In a game where scoring chances were limited, freshman Francesca Peretti (North Easton, MA/Oliver Ames) sent a pass from the right side to McKenzie, who spun around a defender to get an open shot and connected for the day's only goal.
For Peretti, this was the first assist of her collegiate career, making her the fifth Hopkins freshman to contribute a point this season.
Hopkins took nine shots on goal in the match, and didn't allow a single shot by the Mules.
The Blue Jays improve to 9-0 on the season, the best start by a Hopkins team since the program's inception in 1992. Hopkins sports a 2-0 Centennial record.
Muhlenberg falls to 1-4-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in Centennial play.
