GETTYSBURG, PA - Despite having leads in all three games, Johns Hopkins drops a 3-0 decision to Gettysburg on Tuesday night in the Centennial Conference volleyball opener for the Blue Jays.
In game one, Hopkins came back to grab a 15-14 advantage before the Bullets went on a 16-5 run to take a win in the first, 30-20.
Game two saw the Blue Jays gain a 21-17 advantage, but as the match went to the wire, the Bullets took the lead and held on for a 30-27 final.
Hopkins jumped out to a 14-8 advantage in game three, but an 8-0 run sparked the Bullets, who did not trail the rest of the game and went on to win the match with a 30-25 win.
Sophomore Katie Hefner paced the Bullets offense with 18 kills, while junior Steph Vial collected a match-high 18 digs. Sophomore Lauren Thul posted a double-double, with 16 kills and 14 digs.
Senior Katie O'Callahgan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) had 12 kills along with 14 digs for the Blue Jays.
With the loss, Hopkins drops to 14-5 on the season and 0-1 in Centennial play. The Bullets improve to 8-7 and 1-1 in the conference.
The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, hosting Muhlenberg at Goldfarb Gym.
