Women's Basketball Eases Past Washington, 73-39

BALTIMORE - Four Johns Hopkins scorers reached double figures for the second straight game, sending the Blue Jays to a 73-39 win over Washington College on Tuesday night in Centennial Conference women's basketball at Goldfarb Gym.

Junior Haley Wojdowski (Mars, PA/Mars Area) paced the offense for Hopkins (13-4, 10-1) with 12 points. Wojdowski made 4-of-6 shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Senior Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) and sophomore Andrea Dodrill (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) added 11 points a piece, as each hit on 4-of-6 tries from the field. Junior Julie Miller (Annandale, VA/Thomas Jefferson) contributed 10 points for the Blue Jays.

After taking a 34-17 lead to the break and holding the Shorewomen (4-14, 1-10) to only 21 percent shooting in the first half, the Blue Jays sealed up the win with a 20-4 outburst beginning at the 17:07 mark of the second half, making the score 59-25 in favor of Hopkins with 9:24 remaining.

Hopkins led the way on the glass, pulling in 55 rebounds, including 21 offensive, to Washington's 38. Freshman Kristin Phillips (Wilmington, DE/Tower Hill) recorded her second game in a row with 10 or more boards, leading the way with 13 for the Blue Jays.

Sophomore Elise Conway was the only Washington player to reach double figures, scoring 13 points while collecting eight rebounds. Junior LaToya Turner chipped in nine points, hitting on a team-high four field goals.

For the game, the Blue Jays shot 40 percent (26-of-65) from the field to 22.4 percent (13-of-58) for the Shorewomen. Hopkins made 6-of-12 attempts from beyond the arc.

As a team, the Blue Jays dished out 21 assists to just one for Washington. Freshman Jonay Foster (Chicago, IL/Oak River Park Forest) handed out a game-high five helpers.

Johns Hopkins is back in action Thursday, hosting Dickinson at 7 p.m.
