BRYN MAWR, PA - Six different Blue Jays found the back of the net in the second half, as the twelfth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team gained a 7-1 win at Bryn Mawr on Saturday afternoon. Hopkins (12-2, 7-0) won its fourth straight game and remains undefeated in the Centennial Conference.
Bryn Mawr had the early lead in this one as Jess Nishiguchi lifted a ball over goalie Kerry Hamilton's (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) head in the 22nd minute. Hopkins wasted little time in answering right back as Kaitlin Giannetti (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) found Kim Lane (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) with a pass to tie the score.
The Blue Jays exploded for six goals in the second half of action. Highlighting the Blue Jays mix was Giannetti's goal, Laurie Baumann (Milford, MI/Greenhills School) with a goal and an assist, Lisa Irizarry (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) had a goal and an assist, while freshman Ashley Sutherland (Evergreen, CO/Evergreen) scored her first career goal in the 88th minute.
Hamilton started the day in goal for the Blue Jays making five saves in net. Freshman Jessica Cynowiec (Los Angeles, CA/Marlborough) saw her first action of the year in net, making a save in 18:51 of action. Collette Pullion started and made 12 saves for the Owls while Sarah Simmons had three saves in relief duty.
Hopkins returns to action on October 18th, when the Blue Jays come home to host McDaniel College at 7 p.m.
