BALTIMORE, MD - Senior co-captain Danny Coble (Fremont, CA/Bellarmine College Prep) broke the school and conference shutout minutes record on Wednesday afternoon as #11 Johns Hopkins defeated Arcadia 2-0 at Homewood Field. It was the 10th consecutive win and a school record ninth consecutive shutout for the Blue Jays. Hopkins, which is unbeaten in its last 17 home games (16-0-1), improved to 14-1-0 on the season as Arcadia fell to 6-3-5 overall.

Just 2:05 seconds into the game, Coble broke the Hopkins record for consecutive shutout minutes, breaking Keith Millman's record of 776:24 set from Sept. 21, 1996 to Oct. 30, 1996. In the fourth minute, Arcadia nearly ended Coble's streak when Mike Filipone broke in on the Hopkins net, but Coble came up with a kick-save to keep the Knights off the board.

At the 23:21 mark of the game, Coble broke McDaniel's Andrew Wu's record of 797:40 established in 2005. He now has 11 shutouts on the season and 19 for his career. Hopkins broke the scoreless draw just 2:11 into the second half. Junior co-captain Ben McAbee (Hagerstown, MD/ North Hagerstown) crossed the ball from the right side, looking for a teammate in front of the Arcadia goal. No Blue Jay was able to get a shot off as the ball crossed the goal mouth to the left side of the field. Sophomore Ethan Mulligan (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) chased down the loss ball and crossed it back in. Freshman Nick Kosik (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) headed the ball down into the left corner of the net for his fourth of the season.

Midway through the half, Arcadia had a chance on a free kick just off the right corner of the box. Matt Abate stepped up and took the kick, sending the ball in to the middle of the box. Coble came off his line and snagged the ball out of the air knocking down an Arcadia player in the process. In the 73rd minute, the Knights had another free kick just outside the box, this time from the left side. Again, Abate took the kick and it was cleared by freshman Tim Markham (LaGrange, IL/Lyons Township). Arcadia had direct kick just outside the box in the 82nd minute, this time it was Chris Brunetti taking the kick. He ripped off a hard shot right to Coble, who controlled the ball for Hopkins.

In the 84th minute, Hopkins got an insurance goal from McAbee. He controlled a loose ball near the right touchline, turned and headed to goal. McAbee beat three Knights' defenders and then placed the ball in the bottom right corner with the outside of his right foot.

Hopkins returns to its Centennial Conference schedule on Saturday, October 21. The Blue Jays visit the Ursinus Bears for a 1:00 p.m. match-up in Collegeville, PA.
