ERIE, PA - Junior Sean McCreery (Pleasant Hill, CA/ De La Salle) and freshman Antonio Aguilera (Miami, FL/ Gulliver Prep) both scored three goals as Johns Hopkins University downed Penn State-Behrend College 18-4 to advance to the title game of the 2006 Division III Eastern Championship.
Hopkins never trailed in the game as JHU built a 3-0 lead in the first period. The margin grew to 7-2 midway through the second period, but PSU-Behrend trimmed the lead back to 7-4 with 3:45 remaining in the first half.
The Blue Jays controlled the game the rest of the way outscoring the Lions 11-0 in the second half to advance to their 17th straight Division III Eastern Championship title game as Hopkins will seek its 11th crown after capturing the 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005 championships.
In goal, Leandro Azvedo and Jacob Hayden made 11 saves for PSU-Behrend, while sophomore Chris Hutchens (Los Altos, CA/Bellarmine Prep) and junior Andrew McTammany (Hampstead, NH/ Phillips Exeter) stopped five of the Lions shots.
