COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The #11 Johns Hopkins men's soccer team won its 11th straight on Saturday, with a 4-0 win at Ursinus. The Blue Jays improve to 15-1-0 overall and 7-0-0 in the Centennial Conference. The Bears fall to 0-11-2 overall and 0-6-1 in the conference. Senior co-captain Danny Coble (Fremont, CA/Bellarmine College Prep) extended his school and conference record shutout streak to 954:20. Freshman Max Venker (Oldsmar, FL/Palm Harbor University High) struck first with his fourth goal of the season in just the fourth minute. Junior co-captain Ben McAbee (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown) assisted on Venker's goal. Freshman Nick Kosik (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) made it 2-0 with his fifth of the season in the 12th minute.
Just 80 seconds later, McAbee scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season to make it 3-0 for the Blue Jays. Sophomore Ethan Mulligan (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) closed out the scoring in the 20th minute when he scored off a direct kick. It was the first goal of the season for the defenseman.
Coble made five saves in goal for Hopkins to preserve his 10th consecutive shutout and 12th on the season. Ed de Gottal played the first 27 minutes in goal for the Bears and made three saves. Michael Norris and Joseph Kenney each saw time in goal in relief and made one save each. Hopkins extended its school and conference record with its 10 straight shutout.
The Blue Jays return to action on Wednesday, October 25 as they host the Washington College Shoremen in a Centennial Conference match-up. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Homewood Field.
