SWARTHMORE, PA - Sophomore Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) posted a school record 75 assists to lead the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a 3-2 win at Swarthmore on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays (11-9, 2-1) received double-doubles from three different players in the victory. Hopkins has now won thirteen straight matches against Swarthmore.
Hopkins dropped game one 26-30 in the match before storming back to take games two and three by scores of 30-17 and 30-23. Swarthmore was able to capture game four with extra points, 34-36 before the visiting Blue Jays captured the decisive game by a score of 15-13.
Lewis set a school record with 75 assists in the match and added 13 digs for her seventh double-double of the year. Junior Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CA/Windsor) contributed big numbers on the night with a team leading 18 kills and 29 digs for a double-double while sophomore Kim Jackanich (Pacificia, CA/St. Ignatius College Prep) had 15 kills and 13 digs for her double-double. Fijalkowski's 29 digs are a career-high for the junior.
Adrienne Young (Oakton, VA/Thomas Jefferson) and Allison Cappelaere (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) also recorded double digit kills on the night with 14 and 16 kills respectively. Senior Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) recorded a team-high 41 digs on the night.
Hopkins is back in action on Saturday, October 7th when the Blue Jays travel to Franklin & Marshall for a 1 p.m. match.
