Box Score

Sept. 13, 2006

Final Stats

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team found itself trailing late in the second half but rallied for a 2-1 win over Frostburg at Homewood Field Wednesday night. The Blue Jays (5-1-0) are now unbeaten in their last 11 home games. Frostburg falls to 1-4-0 on the season, having dropped four straight.

Gregg Laskow struck for the Bobcats in the 36th minute, giving the visitor's the 1-0 lead. Laskow intercepted a Blue Jays' pass and dribbled on to goal. He shot the ball low to the right that just went past the outstretched hands of Hopkins' keeper Danny Coble (Fremont, CA/Bellarmine College Prep).

Hopkins responded in the 42nd minute, knotting the score at 1-1 to head into the break. Sophomore Malcolm Stewart (Santa Rosa, CA/Montgomery) centered the ball from the left touchline to freshman Tim Markham (LaGrange, IL/Lyons Township). Frostburg goalie Derek Richardson charged out of the goal and Markham calmly tucked the ball under him and into the back of the net.

The Blue Jays took the lead on a goal by junior Nate Ford (Bethesda, MD/Landon), his third of the season, in the 66th minute. Stewart passed the ball down the right touchline to junior co-captain Ben McAbee (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown). McAbee collected the ball and drew Richardson out of his net. He then passed the ball to his left and an on-rushing Ford. Ford one-touched the ball low and to the left for what proved to be the game-winner.

Coble finished with three saves in the win, while Richardson finished with five. Hopkins had the edge in shots 11-9, while Frostburg had the edge in corners 7-4.

The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, September 16 as they open Centennial Conference play against the Muhlenberg Mules. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. on Homewood Field.
