BALTIMORE, MD - The eleventh ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team defeated Muhlenberg, 3-1 on Saturday evening in a Centennial Conference showdown at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference and remain unbeaten at home vs. Muhlenberg in nine games.
The first half of the game was evenly played as no one was able to find the back of the net until the 43rd minute of the contest. It was junior Kim Lane (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) finding the back of the net for her first goal of the year and giving the Blue Jays' the 1-0 lead at the half.
Just into the second half, it was sophomore Molly Steele (Daleville, VA/North Cross) striking for her team leading fifth goal of the year to give the hosts, the 2-0 lead. In the 77th minute, Francesca Peretti (North Easton, MA/Oliver Ames) found Jessie McKenzie (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) on a cross and McKenzie booted the ball home for a 3-0 lead.
Muhlenberg's Mallory DiMaio scored just one minute later to make the final score 3-1.
Kerry Hamilton (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) was forced to make just one save on the way to recording the victory. Kayla Boisvert made five saves for Muhlenberg while Shauna Henley who split time in net with Boisvert made one save.
Johns Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 27th when the team travels to St. Mary's for a non-conference contest.
