BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team opened it Centennial Conference schedule with a 3-0 loss to Gettysburg on Wednesday night in Goldfarb Gymnasium. Gettysburg now holds a nine game win streak over Hopkins (9-9, 0-1).
It looked like things might be different this time around for the Blue Jays, in game one with the score tied at 2-2, Kim Jackanich (Pacifica, CA/St. Ignatius College Prep) served up six straight points and Hopkins opened up an 8-2 lead. Gettysburg slowly chipped away at Hopkins lead and won game one 30-22. The Bullets took game two by a 30-16 score while the Blue Jays looked like they might force a fourth game before falling 30-28 in game three.
Gettysburg received nine kills from Lauren Thul and 21 digs from Amanda Krampf on the night.
Adrienne Young (Oakton, VA/Thomas Jefferson) continued her strong play for the Blue Jays with 10 kills while Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) dished out 25 assists and Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) contributed 15 digs.
Hopkins is back in action on Saturday, September 30th when the team travels to Allentown to take on Muhlenberg in a Centennial Conference match at 12 noon.
