PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team went 4-1 at Temple on Sunday to move to 10-2 on the season. Hopkins was led by senior Joanna Kochaniak (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) who won nine of bouts in the Epee, including all three against Stevens Tech. The Blue Jays earned wins over NJIT (26-1), Hunter (22-5), Stevens Tech (22-5) and Army (15-12). Hopkins lone loss came to the host Temple Owls (22-5).
"In November at Cornell, Hopkins Epee went 2-7 against Stevens," said head coach James Murray. "Our 6-3 win today is a good indicator of our Epee squad's improvement."
"We had the opportunity to rest the starters," Murray noted. "Ying Guo and Jessie Demoise contributed three wins to best Army."
Hopkins returns to action on February 10 at Duke. The Blue Jays will compete against Duke, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Air Force.
