HAVERFORD, PA - The #11 Haverford College volleyball team remained undefeated on the year with a 3-0 victory over the Johns Hopkins volleyball team on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays (16-4, 2-1 CC) saw their four match win streak snapped with the loss.
Haverford took game one by a 30-24 score as Fords' outside hitter Laura Nuyen went over 1,000 kills for her career in the game. The Fords then wrapped up the match with 30-25 and 30-23 victories.
The Blue Jays were led by junior Kim Jackanich (Pacifica, CA/St. Ignatius College Prep) who posted nine kills and eight digs while fellow junior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) dished out 26 assists and contributed eight digs. Senior Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CA/Windsor) posted a team-high 10 digs on the match. The Blue Jays hit just .087 for the match including .049 in the second game.
Haverford received double-doubles from Rachel Salvo and Emily Hinchcliff. Salvo had 14 kills and added 16 digs while Hinchcliff contributed 35 helpers and added 14 digs. Rebecca Salvo just missed the double-double with nine kills and 13 digs.
Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, October 3. The Blue Jays will play host to the Gettysburg Bullets at 7 p.m.
