ANNAPOLIS, MD - Johns Hopkins could not make it two in a row against the Navy Midshipmen, as the Blue Jays lost 9-4 in Annapolis Wednesday night. The Blue Jays slip to 3-6 on the season and 0-1 in the CWPA while the Midshipmen improve to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the CWPA. Hopkins had upset then #11 Navy for the first time in program history on Saturday.
Hopkins took a 2-1 lead into the half, but the Navy defense buckled down in the second half, as the Midshipmen outscored the Blue Jays 8-2 over the final two quarters.
Senior Peter Davis (Riverside, CT/Greenwich) led the Blue Jays with two goals, with senior Josh Kratz (Landsdale, PA/North Penn) and junior Kyle Gertridge (Gunn Prep/Paolo Alto, CA) also scoring in the loss. Michael Mulvey led the Midshipmen with a hat trick, while Chuck Baker and Johnny Meiners also had multi-goal nights.
Hopkins returns to action this weekend at the ECAC Championships hosted by Harvard University. Sixth-seeded JHU will take on third-seeded Harvard in its first match on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1:30 pm.
