Johns Hopkins Finishes 3-1 at Carnegie Mellon Crossover

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's volleyball team fell in five sets to Mount Union, 3-2 before capturing Otterbein in three sets, 3-0 to conclude the tournament. Hopkins rises to 12-4 on the season under head coach Greg Giovanazzi.

The Blue Jays suffered a tough start, dropping the first two sets to Mount Union, 25-21 and 25-21. Mounting a comeback, Hopkins claimed the third set, 25-18 and the fourth set 25-19 to force a deciding set. Mount Union came up with the victory, taking the fifth set, 15-12.

Senior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) connected on 40 assists in the match, while freshman Sarah Feicht (Austin, TX/ James Bowie) had 13 kills. Senior Fiorella Castillo (Jamaica, NY/Francis Lewis) had 15 digs for the Blue Jays.

Hopkins launched a powerful attack against Otterbein, coming out in the first set to a 25-21 victory and took the second set 25-21 as well. Otterbein surged late in the third set, but it proved too late as Hopkins came away with the win, 27-25.

Lewis had 15 assists and 10 digs, while junior Kristen Kozielski (Columbia, MD/Atholton) had 14 assists.

The Blue Jays return to action on September 24, traveling to Muhlenberg to play their first Centennial Conference contest in 2008.
