BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins beat Haverford 69-56 in Centennial Conference action Saturday afternoon for its fifth straight win. The Blue Jays, led by juniors Andrew Farber-Miller (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield) and Pat O'Connell (Baltimore, MD/Loyola Blakefield), improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Fords slip to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Leading by two with 16:42 to play, Brent Anderson drained a jumper for the Fords to ignite a 9-2 run, capped by a Greg Rosnick jumper. Sophomore Mike Henrici (Wayne, PA/Conestoga) hit a jumper with 11:37 to play to stem the tide and make it a 19-12 game. It was even for the next five minutes as the Blue Jays could get no closer than six.

Trailing 27-18 with 6:12 to play, Farber-Miller converted an old-fashioned three point play to kick-start a 15-4 run to end the half and give Hopkins a 33-31 lead at the break. Freshman Tim McCarty (Warrington, PA/Germantown Academy) scored seven straight points, punctuated by a three-pointer, to fuel the run. O'Connell followed with two free throws to give Hopkins its first lead of the game and then nailed a bucket from downtown with 1:04 remaining to cap the run. Rosnick hit a jumper for the Fords with 48 ticks on the clock, to end a drought of 5:24 without a field goal for the Fords.

Coming out of the break, Rosnick sandwiched a pair of jumpers around buckets from senior Collin Kamm (Neptune, NJ/St. Rose) and Farber-Miller and Hopkins led 37-35 with 16:46 to play. Henrici then scored six straight to ignite an 11-5 Blue Jay run, as Hopkins pushed out to a 48-40 lead. The Fords would not go away, answering with a 12-4 to knot the game at 52 apiece with 6:42 to play. Ben McDowell scored fueled the run with seven of the Fords' 12 points.

The Blue Jays took over from there, outscoring the Fords 17-4 over the final six minutes to take home the 13-point win. Hopkins sealed the win with clutch free throw shooting, converting 11-of-12 in the final 89 seconds.

Farber-Miller paced the Blue Jays with 17 points, including 7-of-7 from the line, to go with six rebounds. O'Connell chipped in 11 points, including the 500th point of his career. He is the first player to reach 500 points by his junior season since Matt Griffin '07 and T.J. Valerio '07 accomplished the feat. O'Connell reached the mark in 64 games. McCarty and freshman Leland O'Connor (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter) chipped in nine points each, both career highs.

Rosnick led the Fords with 17 points on the day, while Sam Permutt chipped in eight points and a game-high eight boards. Permutt, who went 4-of-6 in the first half for eight points, was held scoreless in the second by the Blue Jays. Hopkins shot 45.8 percent from the floor for the game, marking the ninth straight game the Blue Jays have shot 40.0 percent or better from the field.

Hopkins returns to action on Tuesday, January 13 as Dickinson visits Goldfarb Gym. Game time for the Centennial Conference match-up is slated for 8:00 pm.
